The sounds of happy people filled the air as over 100 people toured the new “Bags of Love” ministry location across from the Montgomery County Courthouse at 301 N. Thompson St. in Conroe, Texas. Many volunteers from this ministry work with agencies such as; CASA, Homes 4 Good, Children’s Safe Harbor and The Tree House Center to help bring a little joy back into the lives of children who have been displaced from their hostile family homes for one reason or another. They are given a hand-made cloth storage bag that contains a new, hand-made quilt, a stuffed animal, other toys, tooth brush and tooth paste and a number of important personal items. These are their very own gifts and they make a child feel very special throughout a terrifying experience. Since Bags of Love was started in the Conroe community in March of 2008, about 330 bags have been distributed with all the love and creativity that a “grandma” would give to her grandchildren. If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer to help or if you have items or money that you would like to donate, contact the director, Charlotte Hamilton at 936-524-0361. A special THANK YOU to all of those who have donated items and their time to make this ministry a success. — Linda Dayen, Realtor

Written by Linda Dayen on August 8th, 2011
A few months ago I had the priviledge of enjoying the Open House that Chris and Michelle O’Rourke put on at their “famous” Outback Western Wear store, 30405 Dobbin Hufsmith Rd. Magnolia, Texas 77354. This is a great place, nestled in the woods, where you really can get the flavor of Texas–Stylish boots, hats, buckles, shirts and other accessories where “Being A Texas Is Always In Style.” For more information go www.Outbackww.com Stop by and take a look. Their friendly staff will outfit you for any rodeo, ride or party. Tell them “Linda sent you.”
Opening of the Fish Creek Overpass Provides Easy Access.
Written by Linda Dayen on August 8th, 2011
This week was the first time that I was able to drive over the Fish Creek Overpass which has recently been completed that connects FM 2854 (McCallab Rd.) and SH 105, going south to FM 1488. Being able to bypass the very slow and dangerous curved Honea Egypt Road will be a relief to the home owners that frequently travel that route and also to us Realtors who need to get from one part of Montgomery County to another. From the mouth of this Realtor Expert, “Thank you to TXDot and Montgomery County for your care of the traffic flow.” Montgomery County is really growing and moving forward. Come and check us out and let me help you find a new home here in Conroe/Lake Conroe and The Woodlands.

Written by Linda Dayen on August 8th, 2011Recently the Lone Star College has opened up a new campus on FM 3083 and FM 1484 at the top end of Conroe, Texas. Until now students had to go down to The Woodlands, Research Forest, to attend classes and get their certification. This beautiful new campus houses many options for pre-requisits of academic degrees and also trade school training. This is just part of our community growth and development and we are excited to be hosting this well-built educational facility.

Written by Linda Dayen on August 8th, 2011
After a hard day’s work and especially after December’s SOLD HOMES volume I decided to treat myself to a relaxing Swedish Body Massage. Heather did a wonderful job “At The Water’s Edge” located across from the entrance of April Sound in Montgomery (on SH 105). They offer Sports, Deep Tissue, Geriatric, Pre-natal Massages and Body Polish, Body Wraps and On-call Esthetician for facials and skin care. For as little as an hour, all the built-up stress, tiredness and non-stretched muscles were taken care of by a very capable Massage Therapist. Heather took time to explain everything to me first and with those skilled fingers she gave me a very relaxing experience. Your first time massage is only $50/hour. I would recommend her (and also Larry-for you guys) highly. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and what a nice gift this would be for that special someone in your life. Happy Relaxing! — Linda Dayen,Realtor
Visit The Zoo!
Written by Linda Dayen on August 8th, 2011
Recently our family and another family went to the Houston Zoo. I have always loved the wild animals there–maybe I feel like one of them sometimes. Believe it or not, this was the first time I had been there since we’ve lived in the area for 7 years.
The elephants were wonderful and we saw 2 babies that were spectacular. It was a great place to see God’s creation and I recommend it highly, especially at this time. The weather is a little cooler and the animals are more active than when it is hot. Only thing I would do next time is to bring a sack lunch (you can eat it outside the park, I think) because the restaurant food is Very Expensive! Just a tidbit for your next family outing. Don’t forget to bring the kids. –Linda Dayen, Realtor
A Patriotic Christmas Prayer Breakfast
Written by Linda Dayen on December 13th, 2010Early Wednesday morning, over 600 local friends and business owners gathered at the Lake Conroe’s Rotary Club’s Patriotic Christmas Prayer Breakfast. La Torretta Resort was the host and the newly remodeled facility was a great place to meet friends, pay tribute to our veterans and active soldiers and to honor God who makes everything possible. Speaker, Walter Bond, a former professional athlete for the NBA, inspired us to always have that “winning attitude.”
